How to use HVAC Assist Pro

One guided loop covers most calls: describe the unit, add the readings you take, get a ranked list of causes with the test that proves each one. Here is how to run it well.

The loop, start to finish

1

Same account on the phone in your pocket and the tablet in the van. Nothing to set up on each device.

2

Open Diagnose

Equipment type, brand and model, fault code if there is one, then the symptoms in your own words.

3

Add readings

Feed it pressures, temps and electrical values as you take them. Each one narrows the answer.

4

Confirm the fix

Rate the answer. The session is saved so the next unit like it starts from what you learned.

What to give it

  • Equipment type first. Furnace, A/C, heat pump, mini-split, boiler, chiller, refrigeration.
  • Model and fault code. Model number plus the exact code beats a description of the code.
  • Symptoms in plain English. “Short cycles and won't keep up on second stage” is enough to start.
  • Real readings as you get them. Superheat, subcooling, static, voltage, amp draw — measured, not guessed.

What comes back

  • Ranked causes. Most likely first, with the reason it fits what you entered.
  • The test that settles it. The one measurement or check that confirms or rules out each cause.
  • Model-specific detail. Charging method, control sequence and specs pulled from the library.

Which one do I open?

Diagnose

When there is a unit in front of you.

  • ·Guided: it asks for one reading at a time
  • ·Ranks causes and gives the confirming test
  • ·Keeps a thread you can pick back up on site

Pro Assistant

When you want to talk it through.

  • ·Ask anything in plain English, no fixed form
  • ·Great for comparing two possible causes
  • ·Good for control sequences and code decoding

Three habits that make answers sharper

  • ·Enter the reading you actually measured — a guess sends the diagnosis the wrong way.
  • ·Answer the questions in order; skipping ahead costs more time than it saves.
  • ·Press “not helpful” when it misses. That feedback is what sharpens the next answer.

Start with what the call already told you

Equipment type, the customer's description, and the fault code if they gave one. Add the make, model and serial once you are at the unit and the panel is off — every detail you add sharpens the answer.

Your dashboard keeps every thread — reopen one when you meet the same unit again.

Library, forum, tools and your account

The diagnosis is the center of the app. Around it sit the references you look things up in, the crews you ask for help, and the calculators you already reach for.

Resource Library

Your manuals, wiring diagrams and quick references, filed by equipment type.

  • ·Open the Library tab on the dashboard and pick a category
  • ·Search by model or topic to jump straight to the sheet
  • ·Read it in the app, or open the PDF when one is attached

Every diagnosis checks the library before searching the web, and new research is saved back as a reference.

Repair Forum

Post the ones that have you stuck and read what worked for someone else.

  • ·Choose the equipment category and describe what you have tested
  • ·Read replies, then mark the one that fixed it as the solution
  • ·Rate the answer — accepted solutions build your reputation

Leaderboard ranks technicians by accepted solutions and the ratings they earned.
